Jury Selection

In a recent review of FACTOR, some suggestions were made as to how the organization could improve some of its processes. One of the larger concerns for individuals surveyed was FACTOR’s jury process. Both jurors and applicants expressed a lack of confidence in the process.

Therefore, as part of the response, FACTOR has developed a new Jury Accreditation process. This will require all jurors being screened and accredited prior to participating in FACTOR juries.

Should you wish to become an Accredited FACTOR Juror, please click the link below. FACTOR will contact, by mail, those jurors who are accredited.

FACTOR Jury Accreditation Application - You will be required to register and create a username and password prior to filling out the application

PLEASE NOTE…

• Previously, applicants were approved only if all jurors were in favour of funding the project. As a result of the review of our jury process, this has changed. Projects will now be reccommended for funding based on a majority vote from the jurors.
• Jurors who participate in a jury will be acknowledged collectively in FACTOR’s activity report. However, to  protect the integrity of the process and the privacy of the jurors, only a jurors’ first and last name will  be published. The province of the juror as well as the projects they adjudicated will remain confidential.
• All jurors are required to sign a conflict of interest agreement. Any juror who may benefit directly or  indirectly from the success of an applicant is required to declare their involvement prior to the  application being reviewed. When this is the case, the said application will then be placed into another  jury or the juror who is in conflict will be asked to leave the room until a decision is made.
• FACTOR and its Regional Affiliates will select accredited jurors based on their suitability for the jury  being conducted.
• FACTOR Juror Accreditation is valid for a three year period upon which time the juror will be required to be  re-accredited.
