FACTOR Seminar Series - Tuesday May 20, 2008…

TREATING YOUR BAND LIKE A BUSINESS

FACTOR, the Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings, introduces its third seminar. This time we're tackling all the things you need to know about how to treat your band like a business.

We want to answer any questions you might have about keeping receipts, tracking revenue and expenses, what 360 deals are, and what you need to do come tax time. This seminar will be held Tuesday, May 20th from 4:30-6:30pm, at the FACTOR offices, 30 Commercial Road, Toronto, ON.  It will be an interactive two hour discussion and Q&A and is open to all interested individuals.

We're going to talk about:

• Keeping your receipts and other accounting practices
• How do you copyright your material?
• What are the benefits of owning your masters?
• Understanding return on investment
• When is a lawyer needed and how do you get one?
• And much more!

We're excited to bring into this seminar industry professionals Susan de Cartier (Starfish Entertainment Inc.), Lorne Sprackman (Sprackman Terrence Inc., Business Management), Lisa Whynot (Entertainment Lawyer), Daniel Cutler (Publisher) with moderator Julian Taylor (Bent Penny Records).

Please RSVP your attendance to general.info@factor.ca. Space is limited, so sign up early!
