FACTOR Privacy Statement

FACTOR is committed to protecting your privacy and the confidentiality of your personal information.

The following statement summarizes the privacy practices of  FACTOR’s websites, informing applicants of why and how FACTOR collects personal information, and how FACTOR uses this information.

 
Collection and Use of Personal Information:

FACTOR collects personal information when you create a personal account on the FACTOR online application system. This information may include your name, company name, contact details such as address, phone number and email address.

All personal information you provide is protected under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). An Individual’s Guide to PIPEDA can be found online here.

 

Disclosure of Personal Information:

FACTOR does not sell or loan personal information. Project specific information such as applicant contact information, expenses, and funding received may be made available to the Department of Canadian Heritage. If an applicant is granted funding and payment is received from FACTOR, the contact information, Social Insurance Number and total funding received may be made available to the Canada Revenue Agency. Applicants who received an offer of funding from FACTOR will have their applicant name, artist name and offer of funding amount posted on FACTOR’s website. FACTOR may choose to link to the artist’s website.


Accessing and Updating your Personal Information:

Once you have created a personal account you will be able to access and update your personal information online. You may also update your personal information by contacting FACTOR staff directly. You may be asked to submit a request in writing.

In order to protect your privacy, we will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections to your personal information.


Retention and Disposal of Personal Information:

Personal information may be kept up to 10 years. Paper documents will be securely destroyed.


Website Information:

FACTOR does not automatically collect personal information, and our website may be accessed anonymously. When you browse or download information from FACTOR’s websites our servers automatically collect limited amounts of standard information for traffic monitoring and statistical purposes only. This information is used by FACTOR as an administrative tool, and allows us to analyze operational trends and performance, and identify where improvements can be made. The information collected does not identify you personally and includes:

the Internet Protocol (IP)address
·         the operating system and browser
·         the Internet Service Provider
·         the date and time of access
·         the pages visited
·         the key words entered in our search engine
·         the names and sizes of files requested

FACTOR’s website uses cookies. Cookies are small text files that allow you to use our online application service and expire when you close your browser. FACTOR does not use cookies to obtain personal information. Your browser can be set to detect and reject cookies, however if you choose to reject cookies you may not be able to access some of the interactive features on our website.
