Support for Eligible Music Companies

The Support for Eligible Music Companies Program provides funding for business development initiatives that support the marketing and promotion of the company and its services, domestic and international travel to support the company’s development objectives, as well as funding to music publishers to support songwriting initiatives.

For Business Development, there are two rounds of application deadlines.

Round 1 – April 25, 2019

Round 2 – October 24, 2019

Applicants must submit a Business Development Plan with the template provided by FACTOR, outlining the nature and scope of the project. All Business Development projects must be scheduled to take place within the FACTOR fiscal year (April 1 2019 – March 31 2020).

Multiple Business Travel applications can be submitted throughout the year, subject to the Program and Component Guidelines.

For Songwriter Support for Music Publishers, there is one deadline this fiscal year:

November 21, 2019

Business Development Applications must be submitted by 11:59 PM PT on April 25, 2019 for Round 1, or October 24, 2020 for Round 2.

Songwriter Support for Music Publishers applications must be submitted by 11:59PM PT on November 21, 2019.

Funding & Payments

Funding in this program is a grant. FACTOR will contribute 50% of the Total Eligible Budget to a maximum of:

  • $7,500 per Applicant companies rated 2 (max limit across both components)
  • $20,000 per Applicant companies rated 3 and 4 (max limit across both components)
  • For Songwriter Support for Music Publishers: $10,000 per Applicant companies rated 2, and $20,000 per Applicant companies rated 3. This funding is in addition to the Business Development and Business Travel maximums.

Assessment Process

FACTOR staff assess the eligibility of the projects and costs and make a recommendation to the Board of Directors for their approval. Assessment time is six to eight weeks from the date of application.
