2024-2025 Annual Report feature
2024-2025 has been a massive year for Toronto based artist Housewife. Thanks to FACTOR’s support, Housewife (Brighid Fry) was able to showcase at SXSW, The Great Escape, Waves Vienna, Reeperbahn, M for Montreal and Junofest as well as tour in the UK opening for Lauran Hibberd.
Story
These opportunities led to getting signed to a label for the JSR funded Girl of the Hour EP released independently in North America and on UK based label Submarine Cat Records for the rest of the world. Released in March 2025, Girl of the Hour has drawn praise from DORK, Earmilk, Line of Best Fit, Under the Radar and more. The EP has had extensive play on BBC, including Radio 1 and Radio 6. The single “Work Song” was in the CBC Top 20 and the single “I Lied” helped Housewife land in the top 10 of the 2024 CBC Searchlight competition.
In addition to performing internationally, Housewife opened for Metric and played the mainstage of Pride Toronto.
FACTOR is an important lifeline for so many Canadian artists. FACTOR has helped me achieve so much while still giving me the chance for full creative freedom and I am so grateful to have had so many wonderful opportunities with FACTOR’s help.
